Establishment Roadmap
Prerequisites for Notification
HEIs looking to establish a new ORIC office must fulfill HEC’s basic structural requirements:
- Approval of the ORIC setup from the University’s Statutory Bodies (Syndicate/BOG).
- Formal request for HEC notification upon meeting the baseline research volume.
- Designation of a dedicated workspace and initial staff for research support.
HEC Evaluation Criteria (The Scorecard Logic)
Although HEC assesses offices annually, the primary focus remains on these four pillars:
- Research Funding: Efficiency in winning competitive grants (NRPU, etc.).
- Innovation & IP: Number of patent applications filed vs. those granted.
- Commercialization: Tangible evidence of industry-funded projects and licensing.
- Sustainability: The ORIC's ability to generate its own revenue over time.
